
As human beings, our bodies reflect what is going on in our minds and souls. For me, a constant overweight over 7 years was the silent cry of something deep happening in my soul. My dad was diagnosed with stomach cancer shortly after the 2014-2015 New Year’s Eve. (I know a lot of people die every day for this and for other reasons, but for me, he was my whole world.)
In my relationship with him I was driven to do everything I could and more, even imagine I had the feeling that no matter what came into my way I could handle it, because he was my #1 fan.
I hid myself in a different culture and food with the excuse of an international contract in the middle east. In just few months, my weight increased dramatically.
Basically, I was in a constant state of paranoia, thinking that his life could suddenly end at any moment. As I lived in a foreign country with different people, food became my refugee. By that moment, I had no idea it would be a 7-year battle.
He passed way by October 18th 2019, just a couple of months before that I could get my bachelors degree in Economics. Because of my constant travels, my career had taken longer than usual. (I was recovering my normal weight until that moment when OMG yet another fall took place.)
This year, after the emotional pandemic rollercoaster of the past year, I learned that self love is the key to escaping the realm of shadows, melancholy, and sadness
